Cause of Death

Schilling died after a prolonged battle with Colon Cancer. She was first diagnosed in December 2023 after medical scans detected a tumor. Despite undergoing 16 rounds of chemotherapy while continuing her work on television, the cancer later spread to her lungs in 2024. By Christmas 2025, doctors confirmed that the disease had metastasized to the left side of her brain.

Two weeks before her death, Schilling shared a deeply emotional update with her followers, revealing that the cancer had become untreatable and that her “light was starting to fade.”

Family’s Emotional Tribute

Her husband, Gareth Brisbane, shared the news of her passing through a heartfelt statement on her Instagram account.

He revealed that in her final moments, Schilling used her remaining strength to whisper a message to him and their 10-year-old daughter, Maddie.

According to Brisbane, that moment captured her true character. He described her as an “incredible mum, role model, and soulmate,” adding that she managed to balance motherhood and a successful television career with remarkable dedication.

He also encouraged her fans to honor her memory by “living life to the full, loving your people well, and not sweating the small stuff.”

Her long-time MAFS co-star John Aiken said he was “heartbroken and devastated,” calling her his “partner in crime.”

UK relationship expert Charlene Douglas, who worked alongside Schilling on the British version of the show, said she would “forever treasure the laughter, memories, and love” they shared.

Broadcasters Channel 4 and Nine Network also paid tribute, praising her “fierce advocacy for women” and her commitment to helping people build healthier relationships.

Several public figures also shared messages of condolence, including television host Alison Hammond and reality star Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu. Former MAFS contestants such as Lucinda Light and Michael Brunelli also expressed gratitude for her warmth and mentorship.
