Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh once again found himself at the center of political debate after his recent social media post and praising the organisational strength of the RSS-BJP. As a result, the remark has intensified discussions about internal dynamics within the Congress party.
Recently, Digvijaya Singh shared vintage 1990s photograph on X. The image depicts a young Narendra Modi sitting on the floor at the feet of senior leaders like L.K. Advani.
“It is very impressive. The way a grassroots swayamsevak of the RSS and a worker of the Jan Sangh/BJP sits on the floor at the feet of leaders and goes on to become the Prime Minister… This is the power of the organization. Jai Siya Ram,” Singh posted.
Consequently, the post went viral and sparked a political storm with critics questioning why a senior Congress leader would highlight the strength of rival organisations.
BJP Attacks Congress Leadership
Following the post, BJP leaders seized the opportunity to attack the Congress leadership. They claimed that Digvijaya Singh’s remarks exposed internal dissatisfaction within the Congress especially regarding its organisational framework and leadership style.
Additionally, BJP leaders challenged Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that even Congress veterans acknowledge the BJP-RSS’s disciplined structure.
However, Digvijaya Singh later clarified his remarks. He stated that while he acknowledged the organisational discipline of the RSS, he remained firmly opposed to its ideology and political agenda.
Furthermore, he emphasized that appreciating organisational strength does not mean endorsing BJP policies.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders downplayed the controversy by calling it a personal observation rather than an official party position.
